Student accommodation

NKUA & NTUA (Zografou / Polytehnio Campus)

Zografou & Ilisia: The ultimate student hub of Athens. Everything revolves around student life, packed with countless cafes, bars, and eateries. You can even walk to campus. Due to skyrocketing demand, prices for a decent studio apartment are quite steep (often exceeding €450–€500). Goudi & Ampelokipoi: Very close to the campuses (also ideal for Medical and Nursing students in Goudi). Ampelokipoi offers excellent connectivity via the Metro (Blue Line), a great market, and vibrant nightlife, but rents are on the higher side. Pankrati & Vyronas: Pankrati is extremely popular and lively, but prices have surged significantly. Vyronas serves as a slightly more affordable and quieter alternative, located very close to the back entrance of the university campus.

AUEB (ASOEE), NKUA (City Center/Law School) & Panteion

Exarcheia & Neapoli: A timeless student hotspot with a strong alternative vibe, right next to the city center, the Law School, and AUEB. Extremely lively, but availability is limited and rents are high due to Airbnb. Kypseli: One of the most up-and-coming neighborhoods. It boasts a vibrant multicultural and artistic scene (especially around Fokionos Negri). It is right next to AUEB and offers slightly better prices for older, yet often renovated, apartments. Kallithea & Koukaki (for Panteion / Harokopio): Kallithea is ideal, featuring a complete market, great public transport (Metro Line 1), and reasonable to slightly pricey rents. Koukaki is beautiful and right next to the universities, but due to tourism, prices are now unaffordable for most students. Neos Kosmos & Dafni: Excellent choices with Metro access (Red Line) that are highly convenient for both the city center and Panteion University.

UniWA (University of West Attica)

Egaleo: The number one choice. It features its own Metro station (Blue Line), a massive student market, pedestrian streets filled with traditional "tsipouradika" (bistros) and cafes, while rent prices remain relatively more reasonable compared to the city center. Peristeri: An excellent, self-contained area with Metro access, located very close to UniWA. It boasts a vibrant nightlife and plenty of options for student housing.

UniPi (University of Piraeus)

Piraeus (Center, Pasalimani): Most students choose to live in Piraeus itself. Now fully upgraded thanks to the Metro and Tram networks, the area features beautiful spots for nightlife (Mikrolimano, Kastella, Troumba), though rental prices have risen significantly. Nikaia & Korydallos: The best value-for-money alternatives. They are now directly connected via the Metro (Blue Line), sit very close to both Piraeus and Athens, and offer substantially more affordable rents.

Rio (Main Campus - University of Patras)

Agia Sofia / Norman / Ellinos Stratiotou: The ultimate student neighborhood for commuting to Rio. You are just a 10-15 minute walk from the City Center (for your nights out), but right next to the bus stops (Lines 6 and 9) and the Suburban Railway station (Proastiakos) that go directly to the University. Mesa & Exo Agyia: Very close to the campus by Suburban Railway, bicycle, or car. It features newer apartment buildings, is a quiet area, and is located near the sea (Plage). City Center (Ypsila Alonia, Gerokostopoulou, Korinthou): If you want to be right in the heart of the action. You will be taking the bus or the Suburban Railway from the Central Station. Kastellokampos & Rio: If you prefer going to your department on foot or by bicycle and look for ultimate peace and quiet, away from the city's hustle and bustle.

Koukouli (Former Technical Educational Institute)

Koukouli / Psarofai / Tarampoura: The areas located right around the campus. They are packed with student apartments, mini-markets, cafes, and fast-food spots. If you live here, you can walk to your department within 5-10 minutes, and rents are usually more affordable compared to the city center. Synora / Begoulaki: Also very close areas, within walking distance or just a very short bus ride away. City Center (Georgiou Square, Ypsila Alonia, Agios Andreas): If you don't want to feel "isolated" in the southern suburbs and prefer the heart of the city. The connection to Koukouli is very easy via the city bus (Line 2, which runs the Koukouli - Center route).

AUTh & UoM (City Center)

These two universities are right next to each other, so the residential areas are the same for everyone. To go on foot (within 2-10 minutes): Kamara / Rotonda / Melenikou: The "heart" of student life. Everything is right next to you; it's lively and buzzing 24/7, featuring older but renovated apartments. Saranta Ekklisies & Evangelistria: Located right above the universities. Quieter and very close, but with quite an uphill walk on your way back. Ano Poli / Kastra (Old Town): A picturesque area with a view. You can walk down to campus (15 minutes) and take bus number 24 on your way back up. For better value for money (By Metro or Bus): Faliro / Ippokratio / Botsari (East): An excellent choice, as you can reach the universities by Metro in just a few minutes without getting stuck in Egnatia Street's traffic. Toumba (Ano & Kato) & Charilaou: Very vibrant neighborhoods with their own market and student community. They are served by many buses (14, 2K) and Metro stations (Papafi, Fleming). Sykies / Neapoli (West): More family-oriented neighborhoods with lower rents, but you will need to take a bus (25, 28) to get to campus.

IHU (Former TEI - Sindos Campus)

Sindos is located about 15 km away from the city and is an industrial area. City Center (Vardaris / New Railway Station): The choice of 80% of the students. You live at the edge of the city center to enjoy the city life, and you take bus No. 52 (or the Suburban Railway) from the Station, which drops you off directly inside the IHU campus in about 25-30 minutes. Sindos: You stay here if you want to walk to campus, enjoy very cheap rent, and don't care about the city hustle. On weekends, the area becomes very quiet.
